Youth Ministries at First Christian

Youth are vital to a growing church. And First Christian reaches out to many young people each week. We provide learning and growing opportunites for these children of God. A high school youth group (CYF), a middle school group (Chi Rho), Vacation Bible School, Puppet Ministry, Junior Church and Praise Worship are only a few of the minstries that involve our young people.

CHI RHO and CYF will join together on Sunday evenings for activities and learning.  Beth Burch will facilitate these youth events.   Please check the church calendar for exact meeting times and locations.  After a joint session, each group will meet individually.

First Meeting:

September 12, 2010 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall

CHI RHO

This youth group is for grades 6,7 and 8 led by Angie Miller and Lori Simpson. Examples of their activities include watching a movie, making cards to homebound members, playing games, reading the Bible, cooking, raking leaves or talking about what is going on in each other's lives.  Once a year a large group from CHI RHO goes to the regional Chi Rho Jam.

CYF

This group, for those in grades 9-12, meets with Pastor Mike. They talk about real life at their meetings and how they as Christians can face the issues of growing up. They also have fun. Recently, this group has gone on a ski trip, had overnight retreats and spent the day at the pool. Never a dull moment in the Christian Youth Fellowship.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Following fellowship time at 10:15 a.m., Sunday School classes begin for all ages.  There is time to learn about Jesus, have discussion, and complete crafts/activities.

JUNIOR CHURCH

It is often hard for a young child to sit through an entire hour of church worship. So on Sunday, following the Children's Sermon, the younger children are excused from worship and go to Junior Church where they learn about Jesus. 

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Its a busy place in the summer as VBS is held, usually in June. Upwards to 40 are taught by our church members and Little Lambs staff in this hands-on ministry. Fun for all is guarenteed and many crafts make their way home at the end of the week. Songs are learned, scripture memorized and a great time had by all.

PUPPET MINISTRY

Our youth are invited to participate in the puppet ministry which is evolving at the church. Presentations are made on Sunday mornings by our youth.  All older youth are invited to be involved in the puppet ministry.

PRAISE WORSHIP

Don't like to sit still for a long time?  Like to sing?  Then try out the 11:00 Sunday morning praise service.  Volunteer to sing with the praise team.  Or just come and see what's going on.  Come One Come All!
